Peter ChapmanLorie B. heard about Top Verses during the morning talk show on a local radio station (WRMB) and asked for more information about the people behind the site. In response to her request, here is a bit more information about me.

My name is Peter Chapman, I live in Sydney, Australia with my wife and 3 (nearly 4) young children, and I set up Top Verses in September 2007. It started with a program to count and rank Bible references across the internet. Top Verses was initially set up to share the rankings, before I realised how much they improve the search experience!

The analysis was automated so the rankings are truly democratic and cannot reflect any personal or denominational bias. I love this about the site, and the idea that Top Verses encourages more people to read scriptures for themselves.

Thank You, it is a great resource!

  3. Paul (no, not THAT one!) Says:

At first I was concerned that this was a popular vote, and I’d guess that overall, the consensus would be to throw out the entire Book.

Automated crawling? First, your bots may be blocked. Secondly, I can’t see where it accounts for context, i.e., naysayers and bashers would count equally with preachers.

Bah! I want my five minutes back.

Top Verses exists to find familiar verses more easily and quickly. It would be impossible (and heretical) to suggest some parts of he Bible are better than others. If you think of it as just a useful tool then you’ll save searching for verses and find lots of interesting stuff along the way.
